Well here we go!

I have added a store icon to the main page, and that should link you to my spiffy storenvy account page.  I am such a newbie at this, it will take me a bit to add all the projects to the store and we will go from there!

Thanks to all the people who have given me support over the past few months, it was a trying time for me, hence the lack of posts.

Hopefully things will get better in many ways.  Here’s to all of you!

A whirlwind month

The year is winding down now, and what a crazy one it has been!  Last couple of days to go and already 2016.  I never would have thought that it would turn out so great.

First my family and I are healthy and happy, that is the most import ant thing.  They are my rock and everything that’s good in my life is because of them.

My painting this year have exceeded any and all of my expectations.  I have had so much fun (and a little frustration), but the good is way ahead of the bad.  I have completed a couple more commissioned works, something that has given me alot of pleasure out of.  A couple of new ones are coming down the pipeline, and I’m looking forward to those too.

If I were the kind of person to make some new years resolutions, first and foremost would be to get this blog looking a bit better, more professional in appearance and such..  Let’s work on that and if anyone has any more suggestions please drop me a line.  Take care!

Well this is a late update..

Wow this has been a bit since I last updated. Christmas time is here and with work being busy and getting things done at home, the time flies.  Hopefully I’ll get a chance to paint this weekend after getting a tree to decorate and attending (not participating) a bigger craft show..  I did paint a couple last week, those have been updated in the gallery.

No pressure, but they are for sale if you are still looking for that last minute gift 🙂

Go Blue!

It’s Michigan vs Ohio state today, and so I completed a painting using mostly blue. Let’s hope it brings them some luck.  I added that one and another that I completed yesterday in the gallery.  After the game it’s off to the store for more canvases!  I’m running low already, as this vacation time off has been productive.IMAG0338

Downtime today

I’ve been running errands and such today, but I did update my gallery to show the two paintings I did over the weekend.  I hope to do a few more this week and possibly get an etsy site going in the near future.

If there is any interest in one of the paintings you see, feel free to comment or drop me a line.

First show a success!

I am just back from my first craft show and I had a pretty good time.  While I only sold one painting (yay!!), I did gain a lot of insight on many aspects of running a table for the next time.  From setting up my area, loading and unloading, the next one will be better.

I did have a lot of interest, particularly in a couple of pieces, and the painting I donated to the raffle gathered nearly the most tickets!  That was pretty cool!  Plenty of cards handed out, met some very nice people and interest in me doing a instructional session rounded out the evening nicely. All in all, a successful time.

Learning from the best

Hey all,

I’ m getting ready for the craft show tomorrow and I wanted to show a couple of the solid oak frames that I’ve made over the past week or so. I worked with my dad to find some lumber and use his vast array of power tools to shape the wood get it all setup and then I made the frames and just working on putting the last couple coats of polyurethane on them.1447938847237

Since my dad is a master woodworker I had to use his tips and tricks and advice and I think they turned out pretty well.IMAG0325.jpg

Encouraging words

Since I have been painting lately I, like I’m sure many artists starting out, feel like their work is not their best, or is just plain horrible and can get discouraged from making any more.

I just have to say that my wife has been cheering me on and supporting me from the start. Others have given words of approval and encouragement, and that is one of the best feelings there are. Thanks to all my friends and family for their positive comments!

Progress and such

I am working on creating some frames from some beautiful oak that I got from my dad over the weekend.  I have to create some frames because…I have my first craft show this Friday!

Displaying my artwork for the first time is going to be nerve wracking but  I will have some support from my most helpful wife and we will get through it.  Who knows, I might even sell something!  Wouldn’t that be nice!

I have been working on table display ideas, creating some tabletop easels as well as a sandwich board style display.  This is gonna be fun.
